THE EBOLA IN US:BENNETH NWANKWO SPEAKS ON THE GOOD AND BAD SIDES OF EBOLA OUTBREAK IN NIGERIA.

I'm sure some are already about to
either curse me, collapse or take off
(run) because of my mere mention
of Ebola and then saying that 'we'
all have it. Wait a minute, if you
don't have the virus, you have
something very synonymous to it.
Yes! Listen.

The noise about Ebola is gradually
dying but pause a minute and
ponder on the lesson. Did we really
get the underlying message which
this merciless deadly virus left for
us?
We all have Ebola. Yes, you have it,
check your conscience. You know
why Ebola is a big lesson? It is as
merciless as it is inconsiderate!
Whether big or small, and it will
take your last breath as fast as that
thief who will come in the night as
described by Christ.
Yes, everyone is involved. It was
Ebola that made you forgive and
love that enemy you have loathed
for long. (if your enemy catches
Ebola, you will be the first he/she
will infect). And so, I saw all hand
on deck. I wondered if I am still in
Nigeria or my study leave have
suddenly been approved.
This is not the time for the
government to say ''the university
can remain closed for ages, my
kids are abroad''. Ebola is
omnipresent. It was with Ebola that
I understood that government
indifferent and carefree attitude in
certain issues of our national
endeavor, as delicate and acute
as Ebola is intentional. They can
actually combat and contain
anything they sincerely wish to.
Was any committee actually
formed, to sit on long meaningless
meetings? No. Even oga GEJ
addressed us, talking from his very
fearful mind and not reading
mindlessly from his regular
verbose papers
It is not the case of telling your
wayward neighbour, friend or ward,
'keep flirting, if you catch HIV, you
die' (can you live under same roof
with someone with Ebola? But you
can live with an HIV patient). And
so, for once, you obeyed Christ's
commandment- 'love your enemy'
Yes, if you understand what I
mean!
So, Nigerians can actually be
discipline; respectfully and gently
queue at parks, banks and other
public service outlets. We all have
Ebola. And, when this Ebola is
gone, can we maintain the same
decorum?
Am I dreaming? So our government
can actually face a problem
squarely and sincerely and have it
remedied? Does it mean that
government can actually contain
corruption, looting, embezzlement,
power problem, and the rot that
stinks in civil service? We all have
Ebola.
For how long shall we remain with
this high profile deadly virus in us. I
wish Ebola can take the form of all
these evil we have always been
warned to detest. I wish Ebola can
turn to lies, slander, gossip, deceit,
malpractice, indecency, cheating,
fornication, theft, kidnapping. Please,
tell me who will be free?
So all these 'independent laissez-
faire' agencies and palatals can
actually collaborate to serve us
better? So information and health
ministry actually has a link? 'No
problem God will see us'
Please, leave that evil now, before it
transforms to Ebola.
